The question illustrates the perceptions that people had, a challenge excepting science in a time where religion was a more dominant idea. It reveals a sense of being skeptical of evidence produced my years of study. A better way to phrase the question is by asking if "you believe that with time animals gain experience." By gaining experience we conclude that the animal is learning how to survive for longer periods of time throughout generations.
